ALCEA rosea

Hollyhock

(Malvaceae)

Alcea rosea is part of a family of around 60 biennial and perennial herbs, mostly from South West and Central Asia and Southern Europe, grown for their tall stems and large showy flowers. Alcea rosea has given rise to a wide variety of garden hybrids.

Hardy down to Zone 4, they need to be protected against the crowns becoming waterlogged which will induce rotting.
